Happy Sunday evening! Love is in the air, and that’s because
Valentine’s Day is just over two weeks away! We got a head start on decorating
our home (cuz why not?!) which is now dressed with cute baubles in red, white,
and pink. This is one of our favorite holidays because it really only took a
few pieces in select areas to make a big statement.
The best way to ring in Valentine’s Day, and spring for that
matter, is to cover every possible inch of our home in flowers. This was easily
accomplished by including a small vase on the countertop of the powder room;
adding blooms in red and pink to our frequently used flower box on the buffet
in the dining room; placing a bouquet of roses on the credenza in the foyer;
and hanging a wreath of tulips over the fireplace.
Continuing our pattern of utilizing items that we already
own, a set of heart-shaped window clings from the 90’s have been plastered on
mirrors in every bathroom. Cute stuffed bears are placed alongside wooden “Love”
signs on the mantle. Pink, puffy heart-shaped toys are sprinkled within a crystal
heart-shaped dish of Sue’s. Red table runners and towels add a rich, sophisticated
look to a number of different rooms. Candles in white, red, and iridescent
glitter cover every other blank space throughout the house.
In a moment of sheer creativity, Sue also wound ribbons of colored
paper Mache on two lines of wire and bent it in the shape of—you guessed it—a heart!
Both are now hanging on parallel walls in the foyer and powder room.
